Inside Union Street

Union Street makes its smartest decision before the first note: it avoids the obvious singles. The project recasts less prominent Erasure songs in acoustic arrangements, which means the listener is not constantly comparing a new version with an indestructible hit recording.

That choice puts the writing under a different light. “Boy,” “How Many Times?” and “Rock Me Gently” no longer rely on their original electronic settings to establish mood. The album asks whether the melody and emotional premise survive—and often finds more room inside them.

Pair it with Acoustic Live or On the Road to Nashville. Together they form a coherent side route through the catalog rather than a novelty break from it.
