Listening notes
Inside Light at the End of the World
Light at the End of the World follows the acoustic detour by restoring bright electronic momentum. With Gareth Jones producing, the album reconnects to an important Erasure collaborator without trying to recreate a 1980s record.
“I Could Fall in Love with You” and “Sunday Girl” lead with speed and lift; “Storm in a Teacup” supplies a more pointed edge. At ten tracks, the album knows when to leave. Its directness is a strength, not a lack of ambition.
Hear it after Nightbird for contrast, then move to Tomorrow’s World to hear the duo place its songwriting inside a younger producer’s idea of contemporary electronic pop.
