Listening notes
Inside The Neon
The Neon opens with “Hey Now (Think I Got a Feeling),” a title that sounds almost like an instruction to recover sensation. The album’s brightness matters in a 2020 context, but it is not a museum recreation of peak-era Erasure. Color and motion are treated as forms of recovery.
“Nerves of Steel” gives Andy Bell a generous emotional frame; “Shot a Satellite” restores propulsion; “New Horizons” closes with the future still available. Ten tracks keep the record direct.
The live document The Neon Live shows how the new material joined the older catalog on stage. Day-Glo takes the opposite route, turning material from the sessions inward and sideways.
